The Newest Contributions to the Open Walls Project

Gaia’s Open Walls Baltimore is starting strong in April with two new projects, one by Bay Area-based artist Doodles at the Bell Foundry on North Calvert, and another by Freddy Sam from South Africa on Charles and Lafayette. We went to check out Doodles’ project today and it’s a vivid intervention that takes good advantage of the unique architectural details of the Bell Foundry building.

Some previous walls to check out are Overunder’s tribute to Dennis Livingston (follow the link for more info) at Lafayette and Barclay and Gaia’s own gorgeous painting of two hands and a dove at the corner of North and Charles. It’s exciting watching these projects develop, and there are some events to look forward to, as well. One we’re very excited about is being held in partnership with the BMA: Martha Rosler in conversation with Tyler Green at the Museum on Wednesday May 2nd at 7:30. Should not be missed!
